Bob Perovich's Jupiter 2 Minimize
This model kit was built straight from the box, with no custom parts, and used all standard Testors paints.

I determined these by studying photographs of the set, and freeze framing the interior shots  from the series, and taking careful notes.   It so happens that they changed the interior colors somewhat between seasons, and also made some changes during the seasons.  I have listed the scheme for each  season, where feasible.

I would recommend doing everything that says "Optional", as this is what I did.
The kit comes out looking like the Jupiter 2, as opposed to a model, without having to add any custom parts.

As a note, I included the dimensions of the deck floor circles.  The upper deck was tricky, as the original "ship" was 48 feet diameter, with one level.  This model kit is actually 60 feet diameter, to allow the lower deck to be engineered in.  This is interesting, because to keep the same appearance, the deck units had to be placed in the same geometric position.  The flight console moves from 24 feet from center, to now 30 feet from center, a change of 6 feet.  A unit in the middle, moves from 12 feet to 15 feet, a change of 3 feet, etc.  This effect causes an increased spreading effect of the units, the farther away from center you go.

On the series, the floor circle ends before the freezing tubes, by about half the width of the freezing tube.  The circle also ends about 6 to 8 inches before the elevator cage.  Because of the spreading effect, I had to make 2 floor stencils, one that looks correct near the freezing tube, and one that looks correct near the elevator.  By averaging  the two, I came up with 65 mm, which takes the circle up to the elevator cage, but does not overlap.  This looks right to the eye, and seems consistent with the original.

Download the corrections list for the Jupiter 2.   It contains a paint list, dimensions, note sheet, and drawings for additional detail. (840kb word doc)
