newwaresput.jpg

New Ware is developing new product – NW065 1/24 Sputnik 1 & Explorer 1. The multimedia kit will be available by the end of this year. The Sputnik 1 is 142 mm and Explorer 1 85 mm long in 1/24 scale.

Development of Earth satelitte was started in USSR by Sergei Korolev in 1954. As the development of the satellite was delayed, Soviets decided to substitute it by a simple minimum satellite and launch it as soon as possible. It was a presurrized sphere of 58 cm diameter, carying a pair of transmitters.  Sputnik 1 was launched at 10:28 PM Moscow time, October 4, 1957. After 5 minutes R-7 launch vehicle reached orbit ranged from 227 to 947 km above the Earth. Sputnik 1 transmitted it’s signal for 21 days and finally reentered Earth‘s atmosphere on January 4, 1958. The space age had begun.

In the USA, Vanguard launch vehicle was selected in 1955 to orbit first US satellite of the same name. After Sputnik 1 was launched, the Vanguard team speeds up their work. German rocket scientist Wernher von Braun oversaw the launch Explorer satellite by his Juno launch vehicle. Explorer 1 was launched on January 31, 1958. Explorer 1 transmitted data for several weeks and reentered the Earth‘s atmosphere on March 21, 1970.

The Child Bat from Fontegris Minimize

Moebius Seaview Update Minimize
First a quick clarification...

The Seaview comes with two sets of front windows, but they are both feature the 4 window design. The different miniatures featured different window frame designs. One model had window frames flush with the hull, while another studio model had raised window frames. The kit allows you to build either design.

The kit will not include the 8 window movie version. The movie Seaview had other significant differences from the 4 window TV Seaview, which is why that design is not part of this kit.

Now, here are a few new kit photos of the Flying Sub.
